I got to meet the new coworker today, and small world – I already knew him! he was a year ahead of me in law school, and during law school I had a job as a Dean’s Research Fellow. my title was student researcher and he was the project manager, so technically he was my boss in law school. but now the tables have turned and he is the low man on the totem pole (kidding, I literally have maybe 45 days at this job on him, we are very much equally low). but I’m excited!! he’s 26, and he and his girlfriend do not have kids (unless you count their Australian shepherd) so I finally feel like I have someone in the office that is in a similar life stage to mine.

tomorrow is my first probationary checkpoint review with my boss. she’s pretty straightforward, so I definitely feel like if there was room for improvement thus far she would have already told me. so hopefully no blindsides tomorrow, fingers crossed. I really like this job and I want to prove myself as an asset to the team so that I get to stay on once probation is over.

in other news, I got some Taylor Swift merchandise in the mail! I literally ordered this stuff before her album came out (which came out October 21), so if I’m being honest I had forgotten all about it. it was an unexpected and truly wonderful surprise to get in the mail.
